These are awesome! Thanks for posting this.
[ ]BobbyVanoo
Check out the music video for Weezer - Dope Nose
I finally understand what that video was making fun of.
[ ]JordyJanoo
There's not a single scooter in that weezer video, those are motorcycles.
[ ]Grandpa
Nice but what good are they if they scrape the ground?
[ ]Ian
Yeah really!! I love the concept but I couldn't own one in Oklahoma cause they don't have near enough ground clearence! Apparently the streets in Japan are superior to ours!!
[ ]rui
I would buy one today ,if noly there was a web site that you can go onto . thats the sad part the rest i think they coool to own . turn heads wer ever you go.
[ ]stooby
I don't mean to hate but these are straight up fugly.
[ ]Charlotte
Agreed! Some of them are very cute.
[ ]Phoebe
I disagree. Some of these just look awkward and bulbous from a design aesthetic. I'm not into harleys either, just well designed bikes. I personally dislike the plushy, fat cruiser types.
[ ]krankhaus
seriously?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?!?!?! these things are the freaking best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[ ]amanda
Hahaha! *like* :D
[ ]roygbiv
Dd you really just abbreviate scooter to scoots? Really? Shame on you.
[ ]akk
yeah people that are really into scooters call em scoots
[ ]zman
No, they're ugly.
[ ]Curious
will these things break if ridden on rough roads? I mean, this things are just so low... but some of the designs are nice, just the "lowness"..
[ ]Sissakofa
Totally agree...
[ ]jstarswife
i don't like the body style, too low to the ground, but if you can say all of the art work is ugly, you are below moron. Too many different, very well done pieces to call them all ugly
[ ]amanda do me
I AGREE WITH YOU! TOTALLY AWESOME SCOOTERS!
[ ]old harley rider
i ride a harley and love the scoots !
[ ]titanxvx
So much for leaning into your turns!
[ ]bora
Weird in a Japanese way.
[ ]Angie
Agree.
[ ]Ugly, but mostly, weird, soooooooo weird..
(and low)
wutsdis
Cool design and stuff, but i'd like to know how these bikes can steer.
[ ]Johnny
Those wouldnt be good here, they look pretty but imagine you hit a pothole or can't go over onto the sidewalk or whatnot..
[ ]anon
lol i dont think they have potholes in japan...
[ ]ёй
Dangerous and unpractical.
[ ]Cool Bikes
Wow, what a cool collection of scooters. My favorite is the Honda Zoomer...Awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
[ ]Johnny O
The suspension is adjustable with air bags (not hydraulics), same system used on custom bikes here in the US. It's definitely different, but I dig a few of them. Thanks for finding/posting these.
[ ]sachin bahad
gud fr showcase not fr driving..
[ ]Matsuhide
I find it awesome that all the stretch couples-scooters notoriously seat exactly ONE nerd...
[ ]I'd love to get my hands on a few of these (scooters, not nerds).
Hissam
Riding in India, IMPOSSIBLE!!
[ ]gowger
Crazy Japanese! This is their answer to the mods I guess. But I can't imagine a little 50 cc engine would even be able to turn the back wheel on some of those! I bet some of them are even bloody electric!
[ ]50cclolz
You do realize that they are making 'scooters' up to 500cc now, right?
[ ]fisharegood
and larger -- saw a 750cc scooter just the other day...
[ ]Nepenthe
You should take a look at their S-Wagon (Sport Wagon) mods.
[ ]Cutkillavince
Amazing, great pictures ;)
[ ]Backlater
Some of the 50cc bikes run with 150cc swaps .FYI
[ ]Travis
The majority of these scoots are 250cc plus; I only spotted a single 50 in the whole group, and that's the first Zoomer. I built a "pimped" scooter, and honestly, it's a much different experience than riding a motorcycle. Imagine a bmx bike that can do 55+ and turn as many heads as the big bikes. It's actually a hell of a lot of fun.
[ ]Robert Goggin
Folks....Scooters are much cheaper to register and run in Japan. Same goes for small cars. It is very expensiive to put anything oon the road over there. As any serviceman who has been stationed there. What you are missing is the art and sweat that has gone in to theese machines
[ ]Josh
Wow. Those are some crazy scoots. Now I just need to know where to get my hands on all the money they put into them.
[ ]Jud
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........
[ ]Roger
in over 50 years i've ridden everything from a bicycle/moped to a 850 suzuki and had a lot of fun on them all. i now have a 125 suzuki address and would trade it for anything except for any one of those shown. critics of scooter. especially these, are the original BUTTHEADS of the human race. LOL
[ ]Roger
my bad! i wouldn't trade for anything BUT one of these.
[ ]Angus Stewart
Oh, how freudian.
[ ]butt
those are some shiny scooters! they are however, scooters
[ ]funnyHat
At least a few of those scoots are maxi's (there's at least one Majesty) and are pushing 600 cc's and will comfortably cruise at 90mph+.
Anyone know how these folks go about the modding? Like links to a mod journal or something?
[ ]Pimp_Juice
WTF?
[ ]Thuren
Lol Scooters
[ ]Yupagreed
What he said ^^
[ ]Chaseisdumbisdumb
Hate to break it to you buddy, but "legit" really isn't a word either.
[ ]Jonathan
*can't stop laughing*
[ ]frank
lol...oh man.
[ ]Andy C
Original, fun, well put together and shown. You have to respect people who do their own thing and do it well. Some of these scooters are quick and probably fun, and some I doubt you'd get to the corner shop on. Bit like a custom bike show...
Personaly, I'd like to see what people turned up in/on and left in the public car park when they came to see these scooters.
[ ]Kinks
Ugly scooters but to each their own
[ ]Keys
LOL...cruisers and sportbikes...EVERYbody's got one of THEM!! Make's 'em fads and fads are for people with no imagination.
[ ]Anonymous
Most of these scooters are really cool looking. However, many of them have one crippling weakness-speedbumps.
[ ]Micah
No one likes change! But these extreme examples, like all the concept cars each year, only one of these, at most, will trickle down to us lowly consumers. Its the ideas behind the scooters that we need to look into because speed bumps are here to stay!
[ ]So for now lets just all get a laugh and wait to see whats next!
Anna
These scooters aren't my style, my husband drives a Yamaha XVS V-Star 1100 and wants a Harley of course. However we both agree they are amazing works of art, anyone who has the knowledge and ability to make such a creation when working with something such as a scooter deserves a round of applause. Why so many of you can't look at these and judge them for the art they are rather than what is underneath, I will never know.
[ ]anon
I wouldnt ride one of those if you paid me.
[ ]stan
Yeah, cute. but they are still just scooters, so why bother? Could have saved the money and bought a real motorcycle instead. even stock that would be WAY cooler!
[ ]Rylee
Ya some of them look cool but at the end of the day you're still riding a scooter.
[ ]HurriiiKane
BUT. Do they run on water?!?!?!
[ ]unormal
word
[ ]Taboodle
Mmm. Not really a fan of these. They just seem too oblong for my tastes. I'll take my vespa 250 any day!
[ ]Scooterfoolz
It would be cool to have that type of scooter culture in the U.S. We seem to follow the Bigger is Better attitude and see scooters as silly toys
[ ]sir jorge
those are mighty creative, that's for sure
[ ]Hermitbiker
.... an awesome collection of "scooters" !! :-)
[ ]Eccy
Oh wow these are so cool
[ ]Ryan
So... I'm assuming they don't have speed bumps in Japan?
[ ]If they do, these things are gonna get ruined almost instantly, looking at how close they seem to the ground.
Scooter Dave
PLEASE, PLEASE! Do any of you guys have any short term memory?? It has been said three or four times in this post that these scooters have airbag suspensions which raise the scooter up to ride and drops down to park. Quit rehashing the fact that they sit low when parked! I have also spent a few years in Japan. They take their rides VERY seriously. It doesn't matter if it is a 200 cc modified scooter, or a 2000 CC modified Toyota. At the end of the week, they are polished, running at top performance and cruising the neighborhood. For those old enough to remember, we USED to do that here in the States. Friday night cruising in our prettied up GTX's and SS Novas. Didn't matter if it was a Duster, or a Fairlane. What ever happened to the tolerance for others that we used to have? No wonder the world hates us (but I digress). Please take this for what is is: These units show great workmanship and pride; something sorely lacking around here; where customization equals some random tape stripe down the side of a gargantuan SUV
[ ]Jim
Amen!
[ ]annfred
nice machines but they would disintergrate if they hit some of the potholes in my old city
[ ]pixelRoy
WHY oh why are you disagreeing on those photo's of bikes. I agree with 'hector' they are cool and great design. If everyone loved their machines like they do, i bet road rage (which you all have) would save lives........ donuts!
[ ]Lost Soul
Not to my taste, engineering and paintwise, they are superb. Id take the Honda Zoomers, otherwise gimme a Well turned Vespa or Lambretta any day.
[ ]Jazzer
I'm not into bikes at all, but these are gorgeous. I'd be concerned about bottoming out on a lot of these, too, even if they're as stiff as a board.
But beautiful.
[ ]moi
I have some 50's and 60's Lambrettas and the odd Vespa, but can still appreciate these. They are awesome, witty and the only vehicles with hydraulic suspension I like.
[ ]keith williams
I hope that last one's seat isn't curled up like a sleigh like it looks If it is, sure wouldn't want to hit something.
[ ]Bakedpotatoes
Put a bigger one in it. Scooter does not equal small engine.
[ ]Lorelyn
What if you go over a rock...
[ ]Pam McKee
DITTO! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE BE MORE OPEN MINDED, INSTEAD OF BASHING THINGS THEY APPARENTY DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!
[ ]Angie
agree
[ ]Angie
Totally agree
[ ]ninjarider1
At the end of the day, you're still riding a freakin' SCOOTER! If you're going to ride, ride something that will get out of it's own way!
[ ]Dr Evil
Those are hardly scooters, but I think they would be fun fun fun!
[ ]Kratos
Wow! These are real cool maxi-scooters. Thanks for posting. :)
PS - Where there are highly sophisticated, artistic, cultured, open-minded, brave and creative out-of-the-box thinkers. Sadly, there are also your low self-esteemed, jaded, homophobic, couch-potato, keyboard warrior "Simpletons." Enuff said.
[ ]fasterthanwalking
Anything can be done on any bike, a big cc bike doesnt mean its automatically hardcore. With imagination and perseverance great things can be achieved. These machines are testament to that.
My wife and I rode 2up, 40 000kms on a semiautomatic 105cc Honda Cub over 16months, Australia to India. Never seen a Harley do that.
Great work.
[ ]Prime Evil
Ooh, nice stuff. I'll have a few of those off of you, whoever the webmaster is. I love sci-fi looking things.
[ ]RudePeopleAreDrugUsers
The Honda Zoomer at the top of the page looks cool and practical for California suburb use. Can you post a video...or maybe it's already on Youtube of them being driven.
Thanx!
[ ]Very Innovative Japanese!
wtf
two words: speed bumps
It seems the need to navigate those parking lot obstacles were forgotton in the design phase. Interesting concepts but they need to get pratical.
[ ]mikeinkyushu
no speed bumps in Japan...
[ ]A Guy
The scooters are all in parking position, thats why they are touching the ground
[ ]Kenji
They've all got air suspension which lifts the bike when you get on it. The rear car tyres are ridiculous though as they prevent the bike from banking properly.
I've got a custom Honda forza which I got in Tokyo. Not quite as tricked out as these, but it's had almost everything modded on it and it's for sale in Sydney Australia now if anyone is interested in buying it off me. Send me a mail via my site if interested.
[ ]Maya
Wow!!! Amazing!!! Something new...I like it!
[ ]zxgonex
i realy like the concept!!!nice and i realy want to have one of it in the future...respek to al the designer...u all is the best.!!!
[ ]Zu-Zu
I ride everywhere (everywhere) Real old school, these scoots are way coo, l, am envious Zu-Zu
[ ]Zu-Zu
I want 1
[ ]rui
I WANT ONE TOOOOOOOOOOO. let me know wer pls pls pls .
[ ]aru
i like these scooter....bt only for fun.....for nt regular use.......
[ ]juju
first of all, to each their own. secondly, these are for cruising. and if you want hardcore speed, you DONT get a harley! you buy japanese or italian ^^
[ ]FredZilch
Very cool looking scooters, but not very practical. The long wheel base makes them super dangerous for people who hop on one and expect it to be maneuverable like a stock Vespa.
[ ]IH147
I guess Japan doesn't have speed bumps.
[ ]MNRider
If you want an overstretched ride go get a Hayabusa... Neither can turn well but at least the Hayabusa is fast and a little less ugly :\
[ ]NinjaDeacon
I ride a 300cc Scoot, love what you ride...Haters got to hate...Hard to modify it all....damn good jobs...got to wonder how they ride though.
[ ]frank
Scooters are slow? not all Sivv. A turbocharged Honda Silverwing, a tuned Italjet Dragster or Gilera Runner "scooter" will out run a lot and i mean "a lot" of "cool and bad ass" poser Harleys you know and love. But hey how would you know right....
[ ]Jim
I know most of the HD dogs don't get it but the clearance shown is because they have adjustable air ride suspensions and they set them on their belly pans or actually some knobs to rest.
No kickstand needed and most of these anemic scooters can light up the rear tires some are turbo'd and put out 3 times what your sportster can manage.
And as far as handling with the modern suspension's on some of them not to mention the power to drift getting around in a parking lot shouldn't pose any problems.
Really two wheels are two wheels and the ground and cages hurt just as much no matter what you are sitting on at the time show some respect!
[ ]Ra
That one white Helix (Fusion) looks like the frame was extended by at least a foot!
Apparently most people on this message board have never heard of air shocks?
To me, the Morphous/Maxam is the most beautiful scooter in the world. I was amazed to discover that anyone thinks that it is ugly. This factor only makes me love & appreciate it more.
[ ]Yokohama Sinners
To clarify, I rode 88ci TwinCam Fxst, a 2015 Goldwing and a BSA. I rode from MD to TN, KY, WV, PA, SC, FL for bike weeks before. And yes, I tried that type of scooter also in Japan. You gotta understand this is not a big country and rides are shorter compare to US. If I have a huge motor, it is kinda overkill here. Insurance and registration cost go up with motor size. The speed limits are low. The style is futuristic, so is everything else here, vending machines, trains, etc. They are suitable here with their crowd and their style of riding. These motors are pretty reliable for daily rides and trust me, they are very comfortable to ride with air ride systems. The point is they ride even in snow with snow chains. Oh by the way, you'll see atleast one HD, hardtail, shovel or pan, kickstart in 60, 70 style everyday here. So they also have real oldschool HD fans too. It just too expensive. Stop judging and get yourself a bike, love it, takecare and customize it, make it yours and ride it. Stop being stuck up to one brand. HD, I like them but they are not the only one with long history. Others got passion and creativity for generations too.
