Photos: Gundam legs

Gundam legs --

Piece by piece, an 18-meter tall, 35-ton full-scale Gundam statue is being assembled in Odaiba, Tokyo to commemorate 30 years of Mobile Suit Gundam. When finished in mid-July, the enormous figure will entertain onlookers by moving its head and shooting light and mist from 50 points on its body. Until then, we have these photos of its magnificent legs and assorted parts.

DUDE! THAT’S HUGE!!! Oh man oh man I’ve wished these things were rule ever since I started doing those little model ones (was never much into the anime itself – just the robots). Why can’t Americans do crazy things like the Japanese?

Thats because Yanks cant think that hi-tech, they’d rather a big ball of twine or something just as stupid….much like america itself!!!

Poor little Brits so meek and timid that you have given up your personal freedom in favor of Orwellian CCTV nannies. To think, you used to actually used to be a super power, it’s no wonder you’re so grouchy.

When I stumbled this it brought back some great memories. I used to spend hours putting together the ridiculously detailed and fully articulated models. I also enjoyed the Zoids models because they would move, but nothing compared to how awesome the Gundams were. I have 3 level 10 models I bought off Amazon on clearance, sitting in my basement. Instead of collecting them I might just build them. I don’t think they will ever accumulate any value.

    Good Lord!

You got to hand it to the Japanese, never afraid to express themselves and when they do, its both wacky and awe inspiring. Wish I could actually go and see the complete one when its done. It would be worth the flight.

    Kudos Japan.
