really beautful! of course it reminds me of koyaanisqatsi by godfrey reggio from 1982 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085809/) - there are quite a few hints to the old movie here, but of course it is technically more advanced and exposure, colours and movements/rhythms are more under control here... not to say perfect!

What I liked especially was the combination of time-lapse photography with a moving camera. I don't always like pans or pullbacks but these were powerful and decisive

Yeah, the second half was far superior. Why the first half dedicated most of itself to (terribly overdone) time-lapse of Shibuya and (near equally overdone) faux-miniturisation is beyond me. The mountain scenes and the imagery of Western Japan however were beautiful. As was that surreal slow pans over the mossy torii gate, and again with the rotating Shinjuku skyscrapers.

My favourite section was the rotation of the Cocoon and other Shinjuku towers, truly brilliant. A great piece of work, though the second half was definitely superior to the first.

A most fitting and lovingly done tribute to the beautiful country of Japan. Truly breathtaking. Sent chills up my spine.
I am a former resident of both Kobe and Tokyo during the mid 1970's. My father was in the international shipping industry and he was offered a position in Kobe while we were living in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. He jumped at the chance and we moved to Kobe several weeks later. Lived in Kobe for about a year before moving to Tokyo.
I was very young at the time (age 6 - 7) and too young to appreciate the uniqueness of being a foreigner living in Japan back then, however, the experience has always been a part of who I am and have been.
Thank you so very much for posting this video by Brad Kremer ... simply amazing camerawork and I love the timelapse footage combined with the tilt shift effect.
The first thing that came to my mind while watching this video is the similarity it has with the 1992 film titled "Baraka" (check the IMDB for further info on this film). Both films utilize the timelapse footage and have beautiful soundtracks / musical scores that accompany the video.
Thanks once again for posting this wonderful video on your site. Really brought back some fond memories for me.
