This 1998 news report shows urban climber Alain Robert (a.k.a. "Spiderman") scaling the exterior wall of a Tokyo skyscraper bare-handed. The video begins with Spiderman requesting official permission to climb a building. After being denied, he heads over to the 54-story Shinjuku Center Building, which stands 223 meters (732 feet) tall, and he quickly scurries up the side before anyone can stop him. When he reaches the roof about 38 minutes later, Spiderman is detained by police who, according to his website, roughed him up for 5 days until the French Embassy negotiated his release. Spiderman has scaled more than 70 giant structures around the world, many without the use of climbing equipment. [Video]

Nice way for the police to say "Well done!"

He was trespassing, in america you get shot at sight for that. 5 days in jail sounds like a treat.

You wouldn't get shot doing this in the States. That's just bollocks.
Another Frenchman got arrested after tightrope walking between the World Trade Center towers. Guess the French just have guts.

They called the fire brigade.... hahahahahaha....
[ ]If he fell from 50 floors, I don't think even the best positioned spongy pad is going to help...
Frogman
In America he's climbed the Empire State Bldg, Sears Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, Blue Cross Tower, and Luxor Hotel. Never been shot.
BTW yesterday he climbed London's Portland House office building to protest climate change.

From his website, he didn't get shot in the US - even texas, but he was manhandled.
One Houston Center, Texas USA november 22th 2005
His attempt in houston texas to climb the one houston center building has abortted due to some media who had tipped the houston police departement... He has only climbed two meters before being grabbed by the ankle in a very tough manner before he got handcuffed and charged for criminal trespass...

His the sansei/shihan for me but "(..)office building to protest climate change.(..)" come on he could protest against night time after the day ;) Nice PR

He seems to be a very good climber but he doesn´t seems to be very clever. Climbing without any safety equipement is just a stupid thing to do. So you can wait for the moment he hits the ground and just hope that not to many kids seeing this try to do the same.
