Am I the only one who thought of the game "Tokyo Jungle?" This looks extremely similiar
[ ]Kate
Love all the paintings! Although nobody really wishes for this to come true, it looks so beautiful.
[ ]Elzam
Well, I don´t think that NOBODY wishes for this to come true... I dream with my neighbourhoud becoming like that pictures a lot of days, and I think that the world whould be a better place.
[ ]Joseph
emo
[ ]mario
dont be like that emo's fcking awsome.
[ ]Alex
its not. Its really not.
Laura
Emo is bloody awesome :D
Stephen
I'm not sure if that was everyone's vision of a greener tomorrow :-\
[ ]Dexter
Moral of the story, don't speak for everyone.
[ ]AML
Are you kidding me? Tokyo is a concrete jungle! I would like nothing more than to see it like this :-)
[ ]Ed.
Incredible but nature has hit on Japon yesterday. so bad for all these people
[ ]Zero
I wish for it to come true
[ ]Junpei
Zero....
[ ]fireryone
That's a great collection :)
[ ](added a few to my wallpapers)
wow
agree
[ ]Timoow
Awesomeness +1
[ ]Akime
Wow! Beautful! I love this cyberpunk atmosphere : )
[ ]raineiro
I think one of the elements that make them prettier is that there are not humans on it.
[ ]Varenius
Yes, a more realistic portrayal would have piles of human bones!
[ ]felipe
Although maybe all human and domestic animal bones would have been eaten by other animals or biodegrated.
[ ]Hawx
If this is a Japanese artist, they would probably feel it is disrespectful to portray a bare skull.
[ ]Elina
Yeah cmon you can see the growing plants and all, it's not like people have died an year ago.. More like 15 years ago, when bones have become a part of the soil already or modified for tools lol.
I think it would be just immature and tasteless to put piles of bones in post-apocalyptic scenery like this so blah.
Awesome work, btw :)
[ ]rotric
How right you are ...
[ ]Claudia
Made of awesome!
[ ]Serdar
Look closely at the Gainax poster - there's a "Gunbuster" joke in there for the clued-in.
[ ]hawken king
I'm not sure if "welcome back" is limited to some obscure anime or if it's part of the joke
[ ]jj
Note the backward イ.
[ ]Kuroda
Nice illustrations!. And i hope that people soon will come back to the roots. I mean that those greenery scenes make me happy, i guess people will start to understand that the nature is part of the world too, not only humans, technology and concrete jungles. Looking forward when those greenery scenes will be a true. The humans deserve it.
[ ]P.S Not only in Japan but entire world
Grover
I couldn't agree more, Kuroda. Humans are the invasive species. Exterminate!!!
[ ]saltiness
kill us all!!!
[ ]dorkside
That's stupid. haven't you ever looked at satellite images of the earth? what the hell do you think all that green on the map is? Of the %29 of the earth that is land, humans occupy 1% of that. Humans also only put off 1% of all polution (the rest is from volcanoes and fumaroles). Unless your in tokyo, or another big city, the majority of japan is farmland and forests. Same goes for america too. If all you ever see is concrete jungles, take a few step out of the city and look around before you post ignorant crap like that. It's you sheeple listening to all the stupid news stations and crap without researching anything for yourself that piss me off the most.
[ ]c45skid
Oh dear! no sense of humour, no mind for fantasy, I feel sorry for you!
[ ]iolair
I really admire your creations! no humans! everything is alive and texturized

came through Karapaia site and Twitter and I miss the last pictures when you drawn cities overseas, but above arts are also my favorite products, so I think that these are close to the NAUSICAA world or "Beautiful Dreamer" made by Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura, the animation Movie II.

I feel fear and beauty of the nature. There is no sign of humans (well that used to be... or hidden??). As Subaru 2010 mentioned, these reminds me of some scenes of "NAUSICAA" and "Castle in the Sky" of Studio Ghibli. Human is just one part of Nature.
[ ]Vodka
gorgeous! except the pic with Benz
[ ]Varenius
Don't let the Apocalypse get you down! Cruise the ruins in style with the new Mercedes-Benz line for 2038!
[ ]XRaider927
ITS THE BEST......OR NOTHING XD
[ ]RUM
Gorgeous, especially the pic with the Benz!!
[ ]Nameless grass
There are some problems in this picture.
First of all, it is a photograph processing.
In addition, it is the appropriation goods for the "Photograph" to have used others' books without permission.

[ ]Hermitbiker
.... absolutely awesome illustrations.... thanks to Pink Tentacle !! :-)
[ ]Degradation
I've seen the end of civilization...and it's beautiful
[ ]Michael
awesome but really frightening somehow. i'm especially taken with "tokyo monorail" since it's 2 minutes from my apartment. hits too close to home perhaps?
[ ]Marcel
Splendid! It looks so much like it would be
[ ]BalloonCat
I like how the flooded streets in the Tokyo Tower image spell out "okaeri-nasai" in katakana.
[ ]Elisaisabel
REALLY AMAZING!!!! there was a time i feel i was the only one i like the post apocaliptic stuff... but no!!! there's a hole bunch diversity art about it
[ ]Mihara

It looks just like the scenes from History Channel's "Life After People" series.
http://www.history.com/shows/life-after-people
[ ]Kenara
These pics remind me of the History series "Life After People"
[ ]coder99
wow, this is just too incredible
[ ]P
Superb. Didn't realize that destroyed Japan would be this beautiful. Still, it's melancholic. (but really, really great)
[ ]Casey
I really enjoyed these pics... Though I hope these pictures never actually come true, they are incredible!
[ ]wen84
Tambien me recuerda a "Giniro no Kami no Agito" en las imágenes donde la naturaleza invade el entorno en ruinas.
[ ]Preciosas! ;)
ZaPGuZ
Great illustrations, thanks, by ZaPGuZ aka Guus Veldhuis
[ ]Evan N.
I have been to many of these places and this is, I would say, what it might look like with no human involvement.
[ ]Max
Very beautiful! Awesome works!
Does anyone could specify the style of that illuststions, please? Is it more like matte painting, collaging or it's all was drew by hand of the author? That's all increadibly detailed works!
[ ]Flam
Apparently, much of the pictures here originate from this pixiv artist:

[ ]KashJunior
The train station with the water around it reminds me of spirited away. I really like all the pictures though
[ ]Matthew Meyer
These are breathtaking. I can even recognize a lot of the locations. Talk about inspiring! Especially that Ginza Kabukiza!
[ ]James
Love the perfect Merc in amongst all the rubble
[ ]the_cheese

This is eerily reminiscent of downtown Rochester, NY in the year 2010!
[ ]Katie AkaTako
Really excellent collection of destroyed Japan paintings/illustrations. I liked the train station ones the best.
[ ]Sigognac
Actually, I wish there were so many trees and vegetations in Tokyo today...
[ ]figgdimension
Great collection here thanks for sharing
[ ]sane
I think I can survive that, how I wish I could...
[ ]HotCarl
All of Japan is destroyed but that Mercedes is still somehow in pristine condition...
[ ]AK
It's lacking the deathclaws, super mutants and BoS, plus all the explosions and gunfire of a post-civilisation/post-apocalyptic world.
Because, you realize that... War. War never changes.
Plus, if it's really post-human, where are all the penguins and their civilisation? I could call this blasphemy! Hail the Great Penguin!
And it does remind me a bit of this: http://romanticallyapocalyptic.com/
[ ]Russ Tafari
AWESOME! Great art work and very green concepts for a post apocalyptic world!
[ ]Kiwi Mango
Did no one notice the 'manneken pis'? :L
[ ]pook
Keep working! ure great!!
[ ]Pablo
Some of my post-apocalyptic dreams are like these images... beautiful work.
[ ]Kate
beautiful paintings! would love to see a video game that takes place in this world.
[ ]Wattannay
Amazing true :-)
[ ]Marco
I think it's amazing.
[ ]Dan
I love this theme a lot... It should be applied to all cities and countries since it show the revolution of mother nature, the same way we are destroying her she could also rebel and destroy our cities so she can expand... It's a good thing to think about!
[ ]Raven
That's kind of beautiful. Why can't the world look like that now?
[ ]XRaider927
the 2003 Mercedes Benz E-Class still runs in that time... :P
[ ]Vermis
All the people in this comment section are morons. "Oooh, I would love all the people to die and there to be no safe place to live!" Strewth.
[ ]TommyRedline
Great collection!! Love it
Ps. Mercedes fan much? It's literally the only thing that beat the apocalypse in these works lol go German engineering. We know they'll be ok
