Video: HRP-4C robot sings with Vocaloid voice

Outfitted with Yamaha’s Vocaloid singing voice synthesizer software, the HRP-4C female fashion model humanoid robot developed by AIST earlier this year has been entertaining CEATEC Japan visitors with renditions of popular songs.

  1. Weird, I first heard about Vocaloid not ten minutes ago in some other random context. Now it’s in a robot. Future shocks, we can has them.

    Cool but really creepy. The vocalization is not to bad; however, the facial features are not right. I am not comfortable with looking at her face.

    She is a great example of what scientists call the “uncanny valley”, a look close to real but still recognizably not human. Even monkeys get creeped out:
