Hei,
visit the Kiasma (Museum of Contemporary Art, next to Main Station) and after that just walk through the city centre. You’ll feel like being part of an art project :-) (enjoyed this a few weeks ago)

the Kallio district is fun and not touristy at all. the former gas works area also hosts some interesting stuff.

If bar-style karaoke is your thing, I’d recommend Satumaa on Mannerheimentie and Arkadiankatu (http://www.02.fi/keltaiset+sivut/Ravintoloita/HELSINKI/Karaoke+Satumaa/336294.html?tab=contact).

Also, should definitely have a sauna (steam-bath) while you’re there! I’ve always stayed with relatives who had saunas in their homes, so unfortunately, I can’t recommend a specific place (although, there will more than likely be one in your hotel?).

BTW, if you�re planning to use public transportation, they have a very good from/to-site with maps, time estimations and everything.

The Mannerheim museum is an interresting place to visit.
Baron Mannerheim, war hero, president, explorer. The most admired man in Finnish history. A good way to get a feel for finnish modern history IMHO.

Zetor is a tractor restaurant that serves food you would get in a normal finnish house, i would suggest http://www.lappires.com/
for some real finnish food.

For the ultimate finnish experience, take a boat to talin, eat at the Ole Hansa (medeival food), then go to the supermarket at the harbour to buy very cheap alcohol. drunk on boat.

Take a bus and get to Seurasaari Open-Air-Museum! It’s an island in the suburb of Helsinki.
You’ll find Finish traditional houses and beautiful nature and lots of squirrel there.
I happened to go there 3 years ago, and had a wonderful time. I met Finish children who went there for the shool excursion.

go to the beach and play some beach volley. if you find someone from the local club they have some great nets to set up.
