I pondered this for a moment and thought it should not do what it’s doing (returning)… but then I realized the boomerang does not use gravity, but aerodynamics, to turn around and it started making perfect sense. The result should be obvious – but a cool little experiment nevertheless

This is not a boomerang being thrown in “space.”
It is a boomerang being thrown in an artificial atmosphere orbiting Earth.
There is a HUGE difference.
It is the air, contained within the capsule, that allows the aerodynamics of a boomerang to be revealed. Notice, it relies on aerodynamics … and not gravitdynamics.
If Mr. Doi would care to demonstrate how a boomerang would react when thrown in space, he should step outside.
