Kiri-origami artist Taketori cuts and folds paper to make realistic-looking insects. Each critter is crafted from a single sheet, without glue, and paint is often used to add to the realism. Me
True origami doesn't allow cutting paper.
[ ]Tao
This is not origami ! this is simple childs paper art. I did the same and if I may say so much more realistic with everything from cars and musical instruments to birds WHEN I WAS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD! Not that good at all frankly I was much better. I'm now 54 and make real musical intruments that work well and look better.... Tao... The Amazing One!
[ ]Me
whahaha do you belive yourself? if you do you're pathetic...
[ ]Ray
So Tao, if you did such magnificent work at age 8 and even better now, can we see some of your work??
[ ]Schemilix
Tao. Your arrogance makes me sick. I find that yes, the cutting does detract from the awe-inspiration, but it is still amazing work.
[ ]ALYSSA BEEMAN
THAT IS COOL IT PROBLEY TOOK A LONG TIME TO MAKE THAT
[ ]anonymous
i have done some of these before and it is not that easy. so Tao you need to get a life and not spend so much time on the computer offending people who make beautiful art.

well if you don´t think it´s origami you might want to read some of the real origamists point of view in the BOS origami society paper archives and in erick kennway´s book "complete origami" or in "origami design secrets" by Dr Lang or in "origami for the connoisseur"
you would see that origamists like me are less zealous of the square no cuts no glue no decoration style that master yoshizawa had to adopt very diffrent styles as an origami whole
yoshizawa himself disliked wetfolding techniques and said that that was sculpture but later relaxed and andopted it himself so don´t act so high and mighty to judje without a proper idea and if it is not origami for you than too bad for eric joisiel and the tanteidan convetion who are a lot cooler about the subject

I'm not an expert on origami, but your reply was brilliant. I hope you hear my virtual applause.
[ ]Me.
These arent Origami but more like Papercrafts. Wich are very hard to do when they are like these ones! Besides, they are all here for our enjoyment. If you dont enjoy them, dont say anything.
[ ]Leila
These are exquisite, they appear so realistic...this is art Pal!
[ ]Leila
I agree, let's see what ya got Tao...I'm actually interested to see despite your harsh, insignificant comment.
[ ]Ling
So amazing! How did you do that? Such wonderful detail!
[ ]Joseph Brooks
I know I'm a couple years off from this argument but, for anyone that reads this comment...
Origami "Now" - Creating something from an uncut sheet of paper (or other sheet like material such as plastic or foil for example). Preferably square, but can be an octagon, a dollar bill, a strip of paper, or even on a toilet paper roll.
Kirigami - Creating something from cut paper, then folded."Usually cutting into/from center of paper, folding and leaving the creation attached, showing the amount of paper need to make the creation.
So hopefully now you know what the person who posted the realistic origami (artist Taketori) ment when saying Kiri-origami. (Coloring nor use of textured material does not take away artistic value)
