My 4 year old daughter has this cat. However in the US it is furreal friends. You have to pull on the cats tail pretty hard to get it to yowl. It is pretty freaky when she has it sitting in the living room and it falls asleep. Someone walks by and it jumps up and looks around. Nothing happens when you touch its tummy, but it does lay down when you pet it’s back. It sheds like crazy.

Japanese people really are creative. Looks like they are making lots of robots nowadays. But this cat robot, hhmmm… I wonder whether they will sell it in my country. I want one for my daughter. :)

yeah, i agree…there used to be another robot cat a couple of years ago, called “near me”. it had some more functions like standing up but was much more expensive. the yume neko i could find to buy online from japan here: http://www.kilian-nakamura.com/blog-english/?p=354

[...] Als ich Robo Cat gesehen habe, musste ich spontan aufschreien: “Warum in aller Welt hat es die nicht schon früher gegeben?” Meine Nachbarin hatte mal eine Katze. Ich habe ja nichts gegen Katzen, aber wenn sie permanent Revierkämpfe mit ihren Konkurrenten aus dem Nachbarhaus austragen müssen (auch in der Nacht), dann habe ich doch was gegen Katzen. Na gut, was sollst, wo wir hier schon so gemeinsam vor dem Rechner sitzen, gebe ich auch zu, dass ich generell kein großer Katzenfreund bin. Leben und leben lassen. Aber die Katze meiner Nachbarin war mir schon immer ein ganz besonderer Dorn im Auge. Deshalb kam ich auch beim Anblick der Robo Cat auf den Gedanken, die Katze meine Nachbarin (die eh Kurzsichtig ist, also die Nachbarin, nicht die Katze) einfach gegen eine dieser Robo Cats auszutauschen. Die müsste es dann aber in der Farbe Straßenkatze geben. Kann man ja zur Not anmalen. So schnell dürfte ihr das auch nicht auffallen, schließlich gibt sich die Robo Cat wie eine echte Katze. Die Robo Cat verfügt über 5 Sensoren, die über ihren ganzen Körper verteilt sind und jede Berührung registrieren. Ihre Reaktion darauf drückt sie durch Schnurren, Schlafen oder Strecken aus. Selbst auf seichtes am Schwanz ziehen reagiert sie ein wenig ungemütlich. Kommt einer echten Katze also schon ganz schön nah. Wo ich das Problem bei dem geheimen “Katzentausch” sehe, ist wenn die Batterien mal leer sind. Mist. [...]
